Goa Delegation announces that they will to host an MXGP Championship round in Goa, India in the near future

Goa Delegation on their recent visit to the FIM Motocross World Championship

The single largest motocross event in the history of the sport which took place at Matterley Basin during the 19th August weekend now has India pinned as a location for its championship calendar in the near future. 

On a recent visit to the FIM Motocross World Championship in United Kingdom the Goa Delegation announced that they will to host an MXGP round in Goa, India and will soon fix a date for same on the Motocross World Championship calendar.

Mr Giuseppe Luongo, Youthstream President, Dr Wolfgang Srb, FIM/CMS Director, Mr Avertano Furtado, Minister of the Goa Government and head of the Goa Delegation, Mr Ashley Gomes, President of the Goa Motor Sport Association along with several other key state representatives hosted a press conference at Matterley Basin based on the promising future of motocross in Goa, India.

Optimistic about Goa’s inclusion on the MXGP Championship calendar Giuseppe Luongo said, “I am sure that together we will organize a great World Championship in Goa and I’m convinced that we will make a big contribution to make the notoriety of your region and beautiful country.”

Dr Wolfgang Srb who was also present at the announcement added, “I am really happy if we can get a country like India and a wonderful place like Goa on the calendar that is exactly the direction we would like to go.”
