Ford India is on an all time high with the success of the Ford Figo for the sales have touched about 80,000 units in a single year. With such domestic success, Ford is now looking at international markets where they can repeat the "Figo Story".

The Ford Figo has turned one, and in its first year it has managed to become the most awarded car in India and the second fastest selling premium hatchback in India. Not bad for its first year and no doubt that is a dream debut for any car. Sales have touched almost 80,000 units for the year and thanks to the Figo's performance in the market Ford India has reported a 188 per cent increase in overall sales in February 2011.

Riding on this new wave of success, Ford India is now looking at further expanding the export opportunities. The Figo is already exported to 50 countries including the Middle East, The North African Hub and the Caribbean. In addition to this, Ford India will now export the Figo to Mexico, where the Figo will create a new segment in the market is will be sold as a great value for money proposition. It will be the first Indian manufactured car to be imported and sold in the Mexican market.

Incidentally the production of the Figo will remain only in Chennai. Ford has no plans as of now to produce the Figo in any other country, so this creates an excellent opportunity for Ford India to scale up their facility to cater to global demand. The first shipment to Mexico contains 1500 units of the Figo.

Further to this, Ford India is bullish on future prospects and is now all set to launch of the new globally acclaimed Fiesta. The new Fiesta marks the first in a series of eight new arrivals from Ford India planned for the Indian market by 2015. The new Fiesta will not replace the current Fiesta, which, according to company officials, will continue to sell alongside its new sibling as it is an integral part of the company's product line up.

Gearing up for new levels of success, Ford India has also been working at effectively expanding its sales and service network across the country. The company now has 170 dealership outlets in over 100 cities across the country.
