Fiat India has added a new set of variants to its dated C-segment sedan line-up with the Linea 125 S. The car has been introduced at a base price of Rs 7.82 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) and was first showcased at the 2016 Indian Auto Expo. The good thing is that, in addition to getting some interior upgrades, the 125 S Linea sees performance enhancement, which makes it the most powerful petrol sedan in its segment,.
The 1.4-litre T-jet motor now gets eleven more PS of power and the apex figure stands at a handsome 126.7PS. The Linea T-jet is already quite brisk in terms of performance and, with the addition of more power, its drive appeal is going to rise. To tackle the raised power figure, the 125 S also gets disc brakes on all the four wheels.
Aesthetically, the car remains the same, except for the new 16-inch alloy wheels, a popping-out exhaust tip like in the Abarth Punto, a badge on the boot lid and new shiny discs at the rear, if you care to notice.
The insides get a new 5.0-inch touchscreen infotainment screen. Ambient lighting and cruise control are the among the other changes. What about the rest? The seats, upholstery, dashboard and paneling remain intact.
The same infotainment screen has been introduced in the Punto Evo and Avventura as an update. Also, Fiat will now retail the Punto Evo with only a 94PS diesel engine across all the variants. The Italian manufacturer has also re-badged the updated versions as PowerTech, for both the Evo and the Avventura. Wait, weren’t they already re-badged versions of the Punto, with the same bodyshell and platform? Yes, to a large extent.
The Punto Evo ‘PowerTech’ starts at Rs 6.81 lakh, whereas the Avventura 'PowerTech' is priced at Rs 7.87 lakh for the base variant (ex-showroom, Delhi).
