Both the Royal Enfield Bullet 350 and Classic 350 have been around for a while, the Bullet for longer. In fact, the Classic 350 was brought in as a lifestyle alternative to the Bullet 350. In their current avatar, the Bullet 350 BS6 and Classic 350 BS6 might share the same motor but they cater to different audiences. So how different are these two? Let’s find out.

Design: 

Royal Enfield Bullet 350 BS6 vs Classic 350 BS6

At first glance, both BS6 motorcycles look the same. Both get the same round headlamp unit and teardrop fuel tank. However, the Classic 350 BS6 is more polished. While the Bullet 350 BS6 gets a blacked-out, squared-off rear mudguard, the Classic 350 has a rounded-off coloured mudguard. The Classic 350 also gets a chrome headlamp visor, rubberised tank pads, an oval-shaped battery box cover, round tail lamp and a single-spring seat setup. In terms of colour options, the Bullet BS6 is available in 7 colours while the Classic 350 BS6 is available in 9 shades.

Powerplant: 

Royal Enfield Bullet 350 BS6 vs Classic 350 BS6

The Bullet 350 BS6 and Classic 350 BS6 share the same powerplant. The BS6-compliant 346cc air-cooled single-cylinder motor now features fuel injection and delivers 19.3PS at 5250rpm and 28Nm at 4000rpm. Compared to the previous BS4-compliant motor, peak torque remains the same while power has dropped by 0.71PS. Both motorcycles use a 5-speed gearbox.

Underpinnings:

Royal Enfield Bullet 350 BS6 vs Classic 350 BS6

While both motorcycles use the same frame and 35mm telescopic front forks, the more premium Classic 350 BS6 gets twin gas-charged shock absorbers. The more expensive Classic 350 BS6 dual-channel variant gets 18-inch alloy wheels with tubeless tyres in comparison to the base Classic 350 BS6 and Bullet 350 BS6 which gets 19-inch spoked wheels with tubed tyres. For braking, both motorcycles get a 280mm front disc brake. However, the base Classic 350 BS6 and Bullet 350 BS6 get a 153mm rear drum brake and single-channel ABS while the top-spec Classic 350 BS6 gets a 240mm rear disc and dual-channel ABS setup. Also at 196kg, the Bullet 350 ABS kick start version is 9kg lighter than the Classic 350 BS6 dual-channel ABS variant. 

 

Verdict:

Royal Enfield Bullet 350 BS6 vs Classic 350 BS6

The Bullet 350 BS6 was and still remains a purist’s Royal Enfield. It gets basic features but does not skimp on performance given that it shares the same motor as the Classic 350 BS6. The latter is available in many different liveries, and the dual-channel ABS variant is a lot easier to and safer to live with thanks to its tubeless tyres and superior braking components. If you are looking for an authentic old-school riding experience, the Bullet 350 BS6 is the one to go for. If you are looking for a personalised Royal Enfield, the Classic 350 BS6 comes in various themes and with a vast range of aftermarket accessories.
