The facelifted Audi RS5 is all set to be launched in India on August 9, 2021. Unlike the pre-facelift model that came as a Sportback (two-door coupe), the facelifted performance sedan will be offered as a more practical four-door coupe, meaning your fellow occupants will be happy to accompany you on your joy ride.
Before we talk about the styling changes, let’s get the main thing out of the way: the engine. The facelifted performance sedan continues to utilise the same 2.9-litre bi-turbo V6 engine belting out the same 450PS and 600Nm. Despite power outputs remaining unchanged, the facelifted RS5 does the 0-100kmph run in 3.8 seconds, 0.1 second quicker! Top speed is capped at 280kmph.
For an enhanced handling experience, the RS5 sits on stiffer suspension. Also, customers can opt for the sport differential at the rear axle which ensures power is distributed to the wheel with better traction.
Now, to the exterior styling. The design updates are so subtle it could be a blink and miss affair. It comes with new LED headlamps and tail lamps that do a jig while locking and unlocking the vehicle. Then there’s the aggressively styled bumpers and new alloy wheels adding to the sportier demeanour. The wide wheel arches add some muscle to the design.
Inside, the dashboard layout is quite familiar to the pre-facelift model. However, it now gets Audi's latest MMI infotainment system that can be operated via touch inputs only. The swivel wheel has been replaced with a cubby hole. Also, the graphics on the virtual cockpit are in line with the latest Audis.
The new Audi RS5 is likely to be priced at a premium over the pre-facelift car that retailed from Rs 1.11 crore. It will take on the likes of the Mercedes-AMG C43 and the BMW M3.
