Godzilla is coming to town!

Nissan GT-R Exterior

One of the most anticipated launches of the year is right around the corner. Japanese automaker Nissan will be unleashing the GT-R in the country soon. Widely known as 'Godzilla' or the 'Supercar Killer', the GT-R's legacy for borderline lunatic performance is hard to beat.

Nissan recently showcased the 2017 GT-R for potential customers, letting them experience Godzilla first-hand. We think it is a fantastic move by Nissan, simply because of the fact that 'the proof of the pudding’ is in the eating. Sitting under the bonnet is a 3.8-litre twin-turbo V6 motor that belts out 565 horses. Transmission duties are carried out by a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic that sends power to all four wheels via Nissan's acclaimed ATTESA E-TS all-wheel drive system. 0-100kmph takes just 3 seconds, and top whack is well over 300kmph. To put that into perspective, that is almost on par with a Lamborghini Aventador!

For the new model year, the Godzilla has undergone the knife as well. Updates include a redesigned hood, new front bumper, and a new matte chrome finish "V-motion" grille. The headlamps also sport a cool looking daytime running lamp setup, which goes well with the trademark four-pod taillamps. In true GT-R fashion, most of the aesthetic upgrades have been carried out to aid aerodynamics. Function over form, neat!

Nissan GT-R Interior

The interiors get a slew of updates as well, that include the new dashboard design and reduced button clutter on the centre console. It features an 8-inch touchscreen system that can be used for the audio, calls and navigation as well. And, since this car is a geek's dream, one also gets parameters such as coolant temperature, engine oil temperature, engine oil pressure, transmission oil temperature, transmission oil pressure, turbocharger boost pressure on the screen itself.

Nissan is most likely to price the GT-R at Rs 2 crore (ex-showroom, Delhi). Supercar-shaming performance for half the price? Let me go rob a bank!
