Exclusive: Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza spied in full guise ahead of launch

The most talked-about car at the 2016 Auto Expo last month, the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza has been spotted without camouflage at the Yamuna Expressway between Delhi and Agra on Friday, days ahead of its official launch of March 8. Zigwheels has got exclusive images of this convoy of cars, comprising close to half-a-dozen undigsuised Vitara Brezzas in four different colours. 

In these images, the Vitara Brezza that was first showcased in India at the Maruti Suzuki pavilion in Greater Noida last month can be seen in four different hues – red, blue, mustard and silver. In fact, one of these cars also has its roof chopped off to supposedly mount cameras for a TV commercial shoot that all these cars could be a part of.

On the outside, the design sports an impressive caricature for Maruti Suzuki’s first offering in the compact SUV space. The Vitara Brezza speaks of youthful yet sturdy decals, enamelled with a sporty front fascia and a considerably high 198mm ground clearance. 

The Vitara Brezza is also Maruti’s first offering to be conceived, designed, developed and validated in India by Maruti's R&D team, led by Chief Engineer CV Raman.

Mechanically, the Vitara Brezza will be available in India only in a diesel avatar with the 1.3-litre four-cylinder DDIS diesel engine, capable of producing 90PS of power and 200Nm of torque, sourced from Fiat. It drives the front wheels via a 5-speed manual transmission. The petrol variant is also in the pipeline, according to reports.

The Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza is expected to be introduced in no less than six variants –  LDi, LDi (O), VDi, VDi (O), ZDi, and ZDi+ that can be seen in a blue body in the pictures. Priced at around Rs 5.5 lakh for the base model, the car will go straight up against the likes of the Ford EcoSport and the Mahindra TUV300 in the Indian compact SUV space.
