A scaled down version of the Ducati Multistrada has been caught testing which can be the new entry-level adventure tourer offering in the Italian bikemakers portfolio and might be christened Multistrada 939

Ducati Multistrada 939

With the INTERMOT and EICMA motorcycle show around the corner a new Ducati motorcycle has been caught testing. Well we can’t call it an entirely new product as the motorcycle resembles the Ducati Multistrada 1200 adventure tourer motorcycle. But according to the person who caught the bike undergoing testing in Europe, the particular bikes dimension was much smaller than the conventional Multistrada. This has given rise to rumour that the Italian two-wheeler giant is developing a new entry-level Multistrada. From the pic we can make out that the frame of the bike is also similar to that of the 1,200cc motorcycle and it could be christened as the Multistrada 939. The baby Multistrada though features twin sided swingarm which indicates it being a lower-spec model similar to the Monster 821 in comparison to the Monster 1200.

A smaller version of the Ducati Multistrada makes sense as the current model with its massive proportions can be intimidating for many riders. Also the new bike has a lower saddle height which is crucial for Asian markets were the riders physical size is smaller than the European riders. Powering the Multistrada 939 will be the new Euro4 emission compliant 939cc, L-Twin motor that will soon make its debut in the Ducati Superpsort and the upcoming Monster 939. The spoke wheels also suggest that the Multistrada 939 will be more focussed on the tarmac though we can’t discount an endure model in near future. The Ducati Multistrada 939 will rival the likes of the Triumph Tiger, Honda Africa Twin, Kawasaki Versys 1000 and the BMW F800GS. Watch this space for more details
