Emflux Motors a Bengaluru-based electric two-wheeler startup, is all set to launch India's first-ever electric superbike, the Model 1. The Emflux Model 1 will compete against motorcycles in the 600-650cc segment. It is expected to be priced between Rs 5-6 lakh (ex-showroom) and could make its debut at the 2018 Auto Expo in February. Reports have also indicated that the Model 1 will be a faired superbike.
In terms of performance, the Model 1 can sprint from zero to 100kmph in a mere 3 seconds! It’s claimed to have a top speed of 200kmph too. The Model 1 will be equipped with a liquid-cooled AC induction motor capable of producing 68PS of power and 84Nm of torque which is available from the start. Samsung has developed the lithium-ion battery for this electric superbike, which helps it in getting a range of 200km.
The Emflux Model 1 also comes packed with features like dual-channel ABS from Continental, a 7-inch touch TFT display, a GPS navigation system, real-time vehicle diagnostics, auto updates, a mobile app and even bike-to-bike connectivity.
Emflux was founded in 2016 by Varun Mittal, an IIT-Delhi alumni. He was later joined by Ankit Khatry and Gulsan Sharma. Since its inception, the company has raised an undisclosed amount of funds and is looking to raise more after the launch of the Model 1. The company is also planning to bring a naked version of the bike, which could be called the Model 2, soon. The Model 2 is expected to be available in two variants with a range of 150km and 220km, respectively.
