Ducati has issued a recall for the popular Scrambler range of motorcycles in the US market but the bikes sold in India aren’t part of the recall

Ducati Scrambler

With the Scrambler, Ducati planned to make the Italian two-wheeler brand more accessible to enthusiasts. Ever since its launch in 2015 in our two-wheeler market, the Ducati Scrambler has been the highest selling bike for the Italian bikemaker and the price of the bike was dropped by a massive Rs 90,000 to celebrate its 90th anniversary till last month. With the discounted price, the Scrambler Icon was available for Rs 6.07 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). But the latest bit of news will not please Ducatistas as the Scrambler has been recalled in the US market.

The reason for the Scrambler recall has been stated a faulty kickstand pivot nut, which can potentially detach from the motorcycle. The bikes that have been recalled were manufactured between February 17, 2015 and November 11, 2016. According to Ducati, if the pivot nut loosens or falls off, the kickstand position sensor wouldn’t work aptly and this can result in the motor stalling as it is a safety feature. When we contacted Ducati India about the same, they informed us that the Scramblers sold in India haven’t been affected by the above recall. However, if they get any information regarding the recall they will inform Scrambler owners in India.

The classic retro looks harking back to simple, fun-to-ride, air-cooled motorcycles of the 1970s and makes the Scrambler stand apart from its competition. The new Scrambler’s engine, is the same 803cc V-Twin engine of the Monster 795, and makes about 76PS power and offers 68Nm of torque at 5750rpm. The Scrambler range sold in India is manufactured in Thailand owing to which they have been priced so aggressively in India.
