With the Auto Expo around the corner, manufacturers and OEMs alike are preparing to take India to the next level. Delphi India has also showcased its 'to-be-launched' products.

Delphi India showcased the products that will be launched at the 2012 Auto Expo. With the three basis theory of “Safe, Green and Connected”, Delphi India plans to make driving a car a much safer and pleasurable experience. According to Delphi India, there are three megatrends on which market behavior of that region depends. The World ‘megatrend’ explains how globalization has actually helped in the progress of technology around the globe. Also, the high cost of natural resources has started a trend towards more cleaner and greener modes of transport. The second megatrend being ‘people megatrend’, explains the increased concern among car buyers in terms of safety and security. The third kind of megatrend called, ‘technological megatrend’ has also led to easy reach of information which before the inception of the online world was pretty much impossible.

Now, the world is wireless and people want to have a connected-on-the-go technology. So, the question that comes down is that, can you be connected while on the road? The answer is yes, and thanks to Delphi’s new products which would be showcased at the 2012 Auto Expo and would be available with a number of manufacturers by 2013.

Delphi India was incorporated in April 1995 as a fully owned subsidiary of Delphi Corporation, USA. It has three fully owned manufacturing plants in Gurgaon, Dharuhera and Noida with one thermal contract in Pune and one upcoming electronics manufacturing Greenfield site in Chennai. The additional technical centre in Bangalore for Product Engineering adds to the Delphi India Portfolio. Also, in a joint venture with TVS group, TVS-Delphi makes Diesel Fuel Injection Systems. Delphi India primarily deals with Canister, Fuel Pump, Throttle Body, Wiring Harness, Half Shafts, Suspensions, Instrument Cluster, Immobilizer, Radio Antenna and many more such products in the country.

By Mid 2013, Delphi India plans to launch their MyFi Radio Media Centre. A modular product platform that will serve different markets and functionality needs vis-à-vis Radio, Navigation and Connectivity. The MyFi will be scalable product with multiple variants like an entry level MyFi device, a mid-level and a premium level MyFi device. The proven building products for MyFi are the Human Media Interface tool and Bluetooth stack which are also in-house tools used in multiple projects. The MyFi will also have an upgrade option for digital radio reception functionality.

In other connected display devices which will deliver maximum system flexibility with ability to quickly accommodate changing market needs. The system will help by minimizing driver distraction as well as hold integrated access to the latest consumer devices, applications and features. The demonstration samples will be available by 2012. The MyFi navigation systems which will be one-connection for the rest of the world on the move will be available as demo devices at the 2012 Auto Expo. Also, in production are the Cost-effective, full featured radio designs with fully integrated media player which would be available later. The integrated microphone in the device eliminates the need of additional wiring harness and a trim plate with integrated media connectors avoiding the need of separate docking units will also make the life of a user much easier while making the device all the more user friendly.

Other additions would include a shark fin antenna with integrated radio which will add to a better vehicle packaging making the device a single source for the complete system and the short mass antenna system that provides various radio frequency services yielding a low-cost and easy-to-mount antenna that is ready for the mass market. Also to add to the Delphi India folio would be the reconfigurable displays which would be large customizable LCD screens that would have a complete Human Media Interface and can be customized according to the needs of the driver. As for other independent aftermarket products better and new engine management systems, fuel management systems, compressors, condensers, accumulators and a number of other advancements in technology as well.

With technology growing at break neck speed and its equally speedy incorporation in the world of automobiles cars have quickly become very advanced and clever machines. India as a developing nation has always been outdated in the automobile technology field. It is therefore very encouraging to see automobile technology leaders like Delphi try and incorporate the latest and best tech in our cars here in India.
