Let’s face it, no matter how much we love big engines and big cars, here in India it’s the small cars that rock the economy. Rising fuel costs and lack of space means you need to keep that big guzzler in your garage and commute in the most practical way possible. As a result, the small car boom will never let up in India. The latest to announce its entry into the small car bandwagon is Datsun. Related: Nissan small cars to launch under Datsun nameplate
While you might have already read about it sometime earlier on ZigWheels, as of now the plans are finally taking shape with a small glimpse of what is coming. The Datsun cars for India will be manufactured locally and tailored to suit local tastes and conditions. Expect a sub-Rs 5 lakh car to Indian shores by 2014 and which if made right is sure to give the competition a run for its money considering Datsun’s of yore were some of the most brilliant cars out there. The car will be made in India and exported to three other markets namely Russia, Indonesia and South Africa. Until more details come out here is that exclusive peek at what’s headed your way.
