Octavia vRS and Kodiaq confirmed. Will add two more models and two variants to the lineup as well

2017 Skoda product line-up

Skoda is on an image makeover rampage in India. The Czech automaker introduced the new (and thoroughly likeable) Octavia and backed that up with an equally well-rounded Superb earlier this year. Now, keen to capitalise on the momentum, Skoda has officially confirmed its plans for the upcoming year.

At a press conference, Sudhir Rao, managing director of Skoda confirmed new launches that are slated for 2017. What's more, to refresh the current lineup, a few special editions are on the cards as well. Here's what's on offer.

Skoda Octavia vRS

Skoda Octavia vRS:

The rumour mills can hold their horses now. The vRS will officially make its way to India next year. We fervently hope it's the real deal with the 2.0-litre turbo petrol belting out 220PS, and not just a body kit slapped on the existing Octavia 1.8 TSi.

Skoda Kodiaq

Skoda Kodiaq:

Skoda's answer to the Toyota Fortuner and the new Ford Endeavour, the Kodiaq will find its way to Skoda showroom floors as well. We expect it to feature the 190PS 2.0-litre TDi diesel motor, paired with a six-speed dual clutch automatic. It will feature an off-road mode, have in-car WiFi and feature a lot more gadgetry in its top-spec avatar.

The Two Unknowns:

Other than the vRS and the Kodiaq, expect two more cars from the manufacturer. We're certain one of it is the new Skoda Rapid — especially because it does not feature in the 2016 plan. The other car can either be the Rapid's hatchback cousin, the Fabia, or Skoda's smallest car, the Citigo. That said, we have our bets on the former.

Skoda Octavia Black Edition

The Two Variants:

The Octavia and the Rapid will get a special edition each, called the 'Black Edition' and the 'Monte Carlo,' respectively. While details are not clear at the moment, expect a few added features or a different interior theme and not much more.

Skoda does seem bullish with its plan for the Indian market, and the bolstered product portfolio will only strengthen their case further.
