Drool Over This Fancy Sports Tourer From China

Last week, Zongshen, a Chinese two-wheeler brand launched the RG3 in China, under its premium brand, Cyclone. Here’s a closer look at the feature-loaded sports tourer:

 

Like any other sports tourer, the Cyclone RG3 comes with a heavy front end. Thanks to the massive fairing and the big, sculpted fuel tank, the bike looks bigger and bulkier for its segment.

The bike comes with an LED projector that acts as the high beam, while the LED lights on the sides function as low beams.

Notice the little protrusion above the headlight? No, that isn't adaptive cruise control. Cyclone has equipped the RG3 with an optional front facing camera. Not only will it save legal hassles in case of an accident, but now, you don’t need a GoPro mounted on your windshield for a great POV video.

The fascia of the Cyclone RG3 is dominated by the large windscreen, and unlike most of the motorcycles in the segment (or even a segment above), it is adjustable. You can adjust the windshield upto 70mm, on-the-fly.

It’s a no-brainer that Cyclone would equip the bike with a bluetooth-enabled TFT instrument console. The 6.75-inch unit displays a plethora of information including the tyre pressure. Fancy, isn’t it?

The Zongshen Cyclone RG3 is powered by a 401cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine that delivers 42.8PS at 9,500rpm and 34Nm at 8,000rpm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed transmission.

Though Cyclone chose to equip the RG3 with many fancy features, suspension duties on the RG3 are handled by a simple telescopic fork and a monoshock.

Braking duties are handled by twin petal discs up front and a single disc at the rear. Dual-channel ABS is offered as standard.

The Cyclone RG3 Elite variant is priced at CNY32,800 (nearly Rs 3.76 lakh). For CNY2,000 (roughly Rs 23,000) more, you can get the Smart version with Bluetooth connectivity and camera.
