Maruti Suzuki Launches 2020 Dzire Facelift In India At Rs 5.89 Lakh

• The new Dzire gets two new colours -- Premium Silver and Phoenix Red.
• It gets the 1.2-litre Dualjet petrol engine which makes 90PS of power and has a claimed fuel efficiency of 23.26kmpl.
• It is equipped with bigger front and rear brakes for improved stopping performance.

Maruti Suzuki has launched the facelifted Dzire sub-4m sedan in India at Rs 5.89 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The new Dzire comes with minor cosmetic updates and a new 1.2-litre Dualjet petrol engine paired with a 5-speed manual or AGS automated manual transmission. It rivals the Hyundai Aura, Tata Tigor, and the Honda Amaze in India.

Although each variant of the Dzire is pricier, the increase is modest. The base and top-spec variants get a price hike of Rs 6,000 and Rs 7,000, respectively. The Zxi manual and all automatic variants are pricier by more than Rs 10,000. 

Like its predecessor, the 2020 Dzire is built on Maruti Suzuki’s Heartect platform which also underpins the Swift, Wagon R, S-Presso, and other models. Maruti has kept cosmetic updates to a minimum with a new grille and front bumper.

While the overall interior design is unchanged, there are a few touches here and there to improve cabin ambience. The analogue speedometer and tachometer now have a white inner circle. Between them sits a new 4.2-inch colour multi-information display. The SmartPlay Studio infotainment system is now accessed via a 7-inch touchscreen. The 2020 Dzire even gets cruise control. Other features such as push-button start and keyless entry have been carried forward.

Under the bonnet sits Maruti Suzuki’s BS6-compliant 1.2-litre K12C Dualjet petrol engine with idle start-stop functionality. It makes 90PS of power and 113Nm of torque, making it the most powerful Dzire engine to date. Maruti claims fuel economy figures of 23.26kmpl for the manual version and 24.12kmpl for the AGS AMT (AMT). 

The automated manual variants are equipped with a hill-hold function to prevent the car from sliding backwards in stop-start conditions on an inclined road. The carmaker says that it has equipped the sedan with larger front and rear brakes. Dual airbags, ISOFIX child seat mounts, seatbelt pretensioners, rear parking sensors, ABS and EBD are some of the safety features that are offered as standard across all variants. 

The BS4 Maruti Suzuki Dzire was India’s most popular car at one point. Some buyers may miss its diesel engine, but the Dzire will continue to be a fuel efficient urban runabout.
