Shortly after Honda teased the facelifted BS6 WR-V, the carmaker has announced that pre-bookings of the SUV have commenced for a token amount of Rs 21,000. Aside from BS6 compliant petrol and BS6 engines, the WR-V will receive a couple of subtle tweaks.

On the outside, the changes consist of a revised front grille, LED projector headlamps with DRLs, and new tail lamps. Aside from this, the WR-V looks near identical to its predecessor. On the inside, the cabin is relatively similar with almost no changes.

Features highlights in the WR-V include a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, steering-mounted audio controls, a sunroof,  cruise control, push-button start, sunroof and rear AC vents. It also comes equipped with safety features such as dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors and rear parking camera.

Under the hood, the BS6 powertrains are likely to be the existing 1.5-litre diesel and 1.2-litre petrol engines with a BS6 upgrade. The current diesel mill produces 100PS and 200Nm, whereas the petrol engine delivers 90PS and 110Nm. The petrol engine is coupled with a 5-speed manual gearbox while the diesel engine comes paired to a 6-speed manual. Expect similar performance figures to feature in the updated WR-V.

The BS6 WR-V facelift is likely to carry a premium over the BS4 WR-V that is priced from Rs 8.08 lakh to Rs 10.48 lakh (ex-showroom, India). Honda has yet to reveal a launch date for the SUV, but we expect it to happen in April post the 2020 Honda City debut. Post launch, it will take on the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara BrezzaTata Nexon and Ford EcoSport.
