Bosch’s Automotive Aftermarket Division is a major supplier of automobile parts, accessories, diagnostic and test equipment in India. To back up the growing demand for their products Bosch Automotive Aftermarkets has inaugurated its second Technical Training Centre in India. Bosch along with DEG Germany has invested 30 million Rupees in its new Training Centre in New Delhi which will cater to the north Indian market. The objective of the facility is to impart training to aspiring engineers, technicians, employees and customers to enhance and update their technical know how of emerging automotive technology and global service standards.
Mr. S. Muralidharan, Vice President - Automotive Aftermarket, Bosch Limited said “We are witnessing a lot of change. The automotive industry has graduated from classic Ambassadors to ABS induced high performance cars, from carburettors systems to Electronic fuel injection systems and conventional mechanical braking to electronically controlled breaking. Emissions norms have become more stringent and there is greater focus on safe and economical driving resulting in a shift from conventional mechanical systems to modern electronic systems. This shift has lead to increased demand for automotive diagnostics. The industry at present however doesn’t possess adequate skilled manpower to cater to this increasing demand. It is anticipated that meeting this demand would require a trained workforce of 2.5 million technicians and mechanics by 2025. As industry leaders we are attempting to bridge this gap. We intend to transform technicians into knowledge workers by equipping them with skills and confidence needed for automotive service, diagnostic interrogation and resolution.”
The new training facility has a training capacity of 50 people at a go over 70 different specialised training modules for different skill sets like Car Service, Electrical module service, Vehicle maintenance and systems, Workshop & Test Equipment applications, Diesel Fuel Injection Equipment, etc. There are also specific training modules for students, technicians, customers, trainers, new and old employees, sales/ service personnel, etc thereby providing a balanced mix of classroom training, practical demonstration and hands on experience of working on automotive technology on actual vehicles in a state of the art practical automotive lab equipped with the latest diagnostics and test equipment.
To give you an idea of the in-depth training modules, the ESI (tronic) software by Bosch used to diagnose vehicles with active troubleshooting can be used on more than 60,000 cars worldwide. The training modules will provide trainees with exposure to training tools, techniques and technical knowledge that have been adopted from proven international practices across 60 countries that Bosch is present in. On completion of training Bosch will award candidates of their programme with a certificate from Bosch Automotive Aftermarket.
