BMW revealed its smallest sedan, the new 1 Series. This carmaker has previewed the sedan with the Compact Sedan concept which was showcased at the 2015 Guangzhou Motor Show. The new 1 Series borrows much of its styling from the Compact Sedan concept. However, some noticeable differences have been made like the addition of fog lamps on the front bumpers, new alloy wheels, new wing mirrors and minor tweaks to the trim on the exterior. According to reports, there are no images for the interiors, but it could be similar to the concept or there could be some changes that will come to notice after the car is launched.

BMW has not yet revealed any details as far as the specifications are concerned, though the model is likely to be underpinned by BMW sister brand Mini’s UKL front-wheel-drive platform. BMW also stated that car was developed jointly with Chinese engineers and has been fine-tuned to cater to Chinese customers. Also mentioning that the new 1 Series sedan will be a China-specific model and as of now and will be manufactured by the BMW Brilliance Automotive Ltd joint venture as its fifth production model. BMW, in a statement, said that the sedan will be equipped with BMW ConnectedDrive technologies that provide customers unparalleled convenience, rich infotainment, and significantly enhanced safety.

It remains to be seen that when the 1 Series sedan will be launched in India, it may be a project for the developers of the next-generation range. As of now the-the BMW does not have a rival to the Mercedes CLA Class or the Audi A3 sedan.
