BMW has revealed the M5 Competition Edition, which is limited to just 200 models. This special edition comes with the M Competition Package as standard. It has also introduced thicker anti-roll bars and new electronics that control the limited slip differential for better handling. It also receives stiffer springs for faster damper response and better aerodynamics.
After celebrating the success of the F10 5-Series that was launched in 2011, BMW has come up with this special Competition Edition. As you may know, the F10 5-Series’ life cycle is now nearing its end, but the new generation model will be out in the markets by 2017. Reports suggest that the car will have rear-wheel drive, but there will be an all-wheel drive option also. It will be powered by a 4.4-litre V8 engine which is capable of producing 600PS of power and 700Nm of torque, and will help accelerate the car from 0-100km in just 3.9 seconds.
The BMW M5 limited edition's exterior parts are made of carbon fibre which will make the car 100kg lighter than the standard model for better performance. It also includes a rear spoiler, rear diffuser and mirror caps, gloss-black grille and 20-inch Jet Black alloy wheels. The interior features full Black Merino leather upholstery with a special M5 Competition '1/200' badge. This car will be available in only two colours viz., Mineral White and Carbon Black. Along with this it, also gets plenty of other features, including LED headlights, reversing camera, electronic boot release, heated seats, electric rear sunblinds and a Bang and Olufsen (B&O) surround sound system.
