BMW G310R India

The BMW G310R is among the most important motorcycle launches of 2016. It will be the first offering from the German bikemaker to be manufactured in India as TVS Motors and BMW Motorrad have signed an agreement. As part of the partnership, TVS Motors will manufacture the G310R and BMW will share its technology with the Hosur based manufacturer. The bike was first showcased to Indian consumers at the 2016 Auto Expo earlier this year and it generated a lot of curiosity among Indian two-wheeler enthusiasts.

Pictures of the bike undergoing testing have been posted online which signals the fact that the BMW G310R will be launched soon in our two-wheeler market. The BMW G310R was spotted testing on the Chennai-Bangalore highway without any camouflage. We expect that the bike will be launched in India during the festive season and it will be sold through official BMW Motorrad dealerships that are scheduled to start operations in Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai and Ahmedabad by end of 2016. What makes the BMW G310R such an interesting proposition for Indian bikers is the fact that it will be locally manufactured which will make it the most affordable BMW motorcycle in the world. The BMW G310R is expected to be priced around Rs 2.5 lakh ex-showroom and will compete against the KTM 390 Duke. Also Read: 2017 KTM 390 Duke spotted in India

Production of the BMW G310R has commenced with the first lot of motorcycles being exported to international markets from next week onwards. Also the Indian-spec BMW 310R will have few alterations but exact details on the same aren’t available as of now. Talking about engine, the BMW G310R features a 313cc liquid-cooled, single-cylinder motor producing 35PS of power and 28Nm of peak torque. The styling of the bike is based on the on the flagship S1000R streetbike. The wide handle bars and centre-set footpegs result in a comfortable riding posture. Overall styling isn’t very aggressive and the bike has been designed to appeal to the masses. Suspension duties are handled by USD forks at the front and monoshock unit at the back. Braking is done via disc brake on both the ends while ABS is standard.
