The weekend couldn’t have started for Indian two-wheeler enthusiasts on a better note than this. Pictures of the adventure version of the upcoming BMW G 310 R has been posted online by website Motociclismo. The upcoming BMW G 310 GS which is what the new motorcycle will be christened was spotted testing in Europe. And what will make every Indian biker looking forward to an affordable adventure tourer is the fact that the styling of the new motorcycle is based on the flagship BMW GS series. The large mudguard, redesigned headlight and the sculpted fuel tank and luggage carrier at the back endow the BMW G 310 GS with the stance and look of a proper adventure bike.

True to its adventure nature, the BM G 310 GS also featured a long travel USD forks at front and we expect the monoshock suspension to be modified also. The bike was running on 17-inch alloy wheels as seen on the BMW G 310 R but was running on off-road tyres. The frame and many other components will be shared between the two BMW 300cc offerings to keep cost low. Powering the bike will be the same 313cc liquid-cooled, single-cylinder motor as seen on the street bike producing 35PS of power and 28Nm of peak torque.

The powerplant has been mated to a 6-speed gearbox. Given the road conditions in India, an adventure motorcycle bike with long travel suspension makes great sense and slowly the consumers are understanding the benefits of this genre of motorcycles. The BMW G 310 GS will be manufactured in India by TVS Motors and the new adventure bike is expected to make its global debut at the 2016 EICMA motorcycle show in November. The BMW G 310 GS might be launched in the Indian market by late 2017 with a sticker price of around Rs 2.5 to 2.8 lakh ex-showroom. Watch this space for more updates.
