BMW has updated its middleweight adventure motorcycles - the F700GS, F800GS and F800GS Adventure - for 2017 model year. Among the most crucial changes is that all three bikes now comply with Euro 4 emission standards. The emission standards compliance has resulted from the fitting of newly-designed exhaust pipes which are complemented by optional sports exhausts from Akrapovic on all three motorcycles.
The F700GS, F800GS and F800GS Adventure also receive ride-by-wire throttle system and BMW has thrown in four engine maps that a user can switch between. These modes are Road, Rain, Enduro and Enduro Pro. While the Road and Rain modes are standard fare, the Enduro and Enduro Pro modes are optional, with the latter tailored for off-road riders.
The instrumentation on all three motorcycles has also been revised with new dials that offer more information and better legibility. There are now readouts for riding mode info as well and the Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) is now available as standard. The F700GS puts out 76PS power at 7000 rpm, and maximum torque of 77Nm at 5500 rpm, whereas the F800GS and F800GS Adventure can put down 86PS at 7500 rpm, and 83Nm at 5750 rpm.
While ABS is standard on all three motorcycles, they can also be equipped with options such as Automatic Stability Control (ASC) and Electronic Suspension Adjustment (ESA). Customers can also opt for different trims such as Comfort and Dynamic which include heated grips, centre stand, riding modes, LED indicators and auxiliary lights.
