Bentley Bentayga SUV to get hybrid and diesel variants in 2017

Bentley is trying its best to keep its forthcoming new SUV – the Bentayga in news. Wolfgang Durheimer, CEO, Bentley has recently revealed that its new SUV will get plug-in hybrid and diesel variants a year after the W12-powered model launches in 2016.

Durheimer states that the upcoming new Bentley Bentayga will be able to travel 50km on electricity. It will receive a V6 or a V8 petrol engine to extend the range, though a final decision is yet to be made. The official also stated that a V8 diesel engine will make its debut on this SUV.

Recently, the 2016 Bentayga had been snapped undergoing testing in South Africa. A total of three test mules cruising together were snapped by shutterbugs in a city near Cape Town. All the three prototypes were neatly covered under deceiving camouflage and faux body panels.

The luxury carmaker had also released a short video of the Bentley Bentayga at the 2015 Detroit Motor Show. The video depicted the 2016 Bentley Bentayga showing its off-road prowess in the desert. Based on that video, the new 2016 Bentley Bentayga is expected to receive a prominent front grille flanked by circular headlamps. The SUV is also expected to receive front fender vents, a tailgate-mounted spoiler and a dual exhaust system. The cabin will feature premium leather upholstery, wood trim and metallic accents.

The Bentley Bentayga will be revealed later this year before hitting the international market in 2016.
