Bajaj will launch the upcoming VS400 power cruiser by November in our two-wheeler market

Now this bit of news will be disappointing for Indian bikers. Bajaj has delayed the launch of the upcoming VS400 power cruiser in the Indian market. The upcoming motorcycle was recently spotted in Ladakh where its TVC was being shot giving rise to speculations that the launch is around corner. But according to company officials the Chakan based manufacturer is focussing its attention on the festive season demand. Another report states that the power cruiser will not be part of the “Pulsar” brand and that Bajaj might start an all-new range of bikes. The Bajaj VS400 is likely to be launched in November, 2016 in the Indian market and will be the new flagship offering for Bajaj.

The motorcycle will be powered by the 373cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled motor that has been borrowed from the KTM 390 Duke. The engine of the VS400 will have a power output of 34.5PS, which is around 10PS less than the KTM engine. Apparently Bajaj engineers have tuned the motor for better low-end torque delivery to suit its power cruiser dynamics. The frame on the VS400 though is a perimeter unit as opposed to the trellis frame as seen on the KTM 390 Duke. We can expect the new powerplant to be equipped with triple spar technology. The new VS400 features tank mounted digital display for speed and gear position while the handlebar mounted digital display gets tachometer, trip meter, fuel gauge and other details. It will be also the first Bajaj motorcycle to get equipped with LED headlamp while the turn indicators and taillight unit is also LED. The production-spec VS400 employs conventional telescopic forks instead of the USD forks as seen on the concept bike to keep cost low. ABS will be an optional extra on the new Bajaj motorcycle and we expect the new VS400 to be priced between Rs 1.5 lakh and 1.7 lakh ex-showroom.
