The Gravitas is essentially a Harrier with seven seats. But is that it?

Tata Motors has unveiled the Gravitas SUV at the ongoing Auto Expo 2020. In a nutshell, the Gravitas is essentially a longer Harrier with an extra row of seats. However, the Gravitas comes with a handful of elements to differentiate it from the Harrier. Let’s have a closer look.

Both models look almost the same when viewed head-on. The only change is the revised colour scheme in the grille. However…

The Tata Gravitas and the Harrier share the same dashboard and come with a floating infotainment system. However, the Gravitas comes with a black-beige colour scheme while the Harrier comes with a black-brown combo. The Harrier can also be had in a dark edition, with an all-black cabin.

Any New Features?

Both models come with features like an 8.8-inch infotainment system, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a JBL sound system, climate control, a 7-inch colour multi-info display, keyless entry with push button start and auto-dimming IRVM. Safety features include 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors and a rearview camera.

The Gravitas goes an extra step and comes with an electric parking brake function with an auto-hold function. However, it misses out on the panoramic sunroof, a much loved feature found in the Harrier.

Under The Hood?

Both models come with a BS6-compliant 2.0-litre diesel engine that develops 170PS of power and 350Nm of torque. It can be had with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic option. Both models also come with drive modes and terrain modes if you intend to be adventurous.

Expected Prices:

The Tata Harrier is currently priced from Rs 13.69 lakh (ex-showroom). We expect the Gravitas to be priced Rs 1 lakh more than the equivalent Harrier variant. The Tata Harrier locks horns with the MG Hector 5-seater, Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos. On the other hand, the Gravitas will rival the MG Hector Plus (6-seater) and Mahindra XUV500.
