Ather Energy To Grow Five-Fold This Year

• Ather currently sells the 450 and 450X in Bengaluru and Chennai.
• In January, it had confirmed its plans of expanding to Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Pune and Hyderabad.
• It will now expand to four more cities: Ahmedabad, Kochi, Coimbatore and Kolkata.
• Ather will also expand to tier II & III cities.

Ather Energy recently launched its more powerful and efficient 450X electric scooter. The base version of the 450X will replace the 450 electric scooter. Ather says it has received a positive response for its electric scooter not only from customers but also from prospective dealer partners. It claims to have received over 2,000 dealerships requests. Given the positive feedback, Ather will set up dealerships in Ahmedabad, Kochi, Coimbatore and Kolkata -- cities that saw the highest pre-booking.

This news follows Ather’s announcement in January of expanding to Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Pune and Hyderabad. So, Ather is expected to have dealerships in 10 cities by the end of 2020 if you count Bengaluru and Chennai where they are currently available. In the coming months, Ather will focus on setting up charging infrastructure in these cities. The new dealerships could feature pre-owned Ather scooters as well. 

According to Ather, customer response has not been limited to metros and major cities with a buzz in tier II and tier III cities as well. Ather seeks to expand its dealership to 30 cities by 2023. Tier II and tier III cities are also part of this plan.
