Aston Martin Rapide 2016 launched in India at Rs 3.29 crore

The 2016 avatar of the Aston Martin Rapide was unveiled in India at a base price of Rs 3.29 crore (ex-showroom Thane) recently. The vehicle will be available through Performance Cars, a division of Infinity Cars Private, only in Mumbai, the company said.

On the occasion, Aston Martin Middle East and North Africa General Manager Neil Slade said that this model offers unprecedented power and comfort at an extremely attractive price. “India has been a market of strategic importance for Aston Martin and we are very delighted to launch the new Rapide in the country. Aston Martin has been very responsive to the demands of the Indian consumers and have therefore launched the new Rapide especially for India,” he added.

On the design front, the facelifted Aston Martin Rapide gets a number of minor updates. The front grille has expanded in size from the outgoing model and new DRL lamps on either side impart it an uncharacteristic sharp look. Aston Martin claims that it is also the world’s largest grille to have passed the pedestrian safety norms.

In terms of features, the 2016 Aston Martin Rapide comes with a new AMI III infotainment system that pops out of the centre console when called out. The 6.5-inch display also has readouts for real time power and torque while Aston Martin has ensured smooth smartphone integration as well. Safety features include dual pre-tensioning seat belts, load limiting technology for all four passengers and eight airbags.

Coming to the heart of the new Aston Martin Rapide sedan, the powerplant is a new generation 6-litre AM29 V12 engine that churns out 510 PS of power. Acceleration figures are claimed to be from 0-100 kmph in just 4.6 seconds and a top speed of 306 kmph. The engine features two ECUs, each of which monitors six engine cylinders.
