Aston Martin posted a tweet saying "Farewell to an icon" and uploaded pictures of the last nine DB9s. The production of the car is done by the company's 'Q' customisation department at its plant in Gaydon, England. This car was the successor to the DB7 and was introduced in 2003 at the Frankfurt Motor Show. It has been 13 years since the DB9 made its debut, and now this decision by Aston Martin will mark the end for this grand tourer, making the DB11 its immediate successor.
The DB9 was designed by Henrik Fisker, and since 2003 this car has kept on upgrading itself, till last year’s DB9 GT, which later on also had the 'Bondinspired special edition'. However, now, a new chapter is beginning with the arrival of the DB11 and, hopefully, all the things we like about the DB9, such as its poise, effortless highperformance, and spectacular interior, will be inherited by its successor. The DB9 is powered by a 6.0litre V12 engine which accelerates the car from 0 to 100km in just 4.1 seconds. The successor to this car, the DB11, made its debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2016. It will be offered with an allnew 5.2litre, twinturbo (making it the first turbocharged series for Aston Martin), V12 engine that will be capable of producing 608PS of power and 700Nm of peak torque, making the DB11 accelerate from 0 to 100 in just 3.9 seconds. It will also have an 8speed rearmounted ZF automatic gearbox. However, in the future, Aston Martin might put a smaller 4.0litre twinturbo V8 engine in the DB11, that is been developed with MercedesBenz AMG.
