Aspiring technician Sambhaji Patil shines at 2011 NTGP

Young and aspiring Yamaha mechanic Sambhaji Patil from Kolhapur certified as per the company's service standard and finished in third place in the second edition of the National Technician Grand Prix

Countless well-trained technicians under the Yamaha India umbrella went head to head in what has quickly come to be recognized as the National Technical Grand Prix, an in house national level competition by Japanese bike maker Yamaha in India to gauge and in the process of doing so raise the standard of service being provided by their mechanics at Yamaha dealerships pan India.

Among the 650 aspiring and skilled technicians who participated in the second edition of the national level competition in 2011, Sambhaji Patil, a young lad from the Maharashtra’s princely town of Kolhapur was among the 16 finalists, and finally walked away with the third prize in the fiercely competitive NTGP.

The final contest lasted three days and the here the technician’s skills were tested in different departments like problem diagnosis, instrument usage, repair skill, custom reception and theory test. Winners were decided by giving weightage on different parameters during each activity and then calculating the cumulative score.

In a glittering ceremony at the Yamaha headquarters in Surajpur Managing Director Hirouki Suzuki San and Jun Nakata San distributed the trophies, certificates and gifts to the three winners and other thirteen contestants.



The 2011 NTGP results were of particular significance because IYM (International Yamaha Motors) is planning to participate in the 2012 WTGP (World Techinical Grand Prix) and one technician from the 2011 NTGP top three shall be representing IYM.
