Speaking about the scooter, Stefano Pelle, Managing Director and CEO, Piaggio Vehicles Private Limited (PVPL), said, “We have received a favourable response to all our launches in the country and with the launch of the Aprilia SR 150, we aim to increase our footprint across the geo. The design aesthetics of the SR 150 reflect the sporty character of the Aprilia brand with a light weight engine which creates a new category in India’s the scooter segment”.
Talking about styling, the Aprilia SR 150 has a European design language which is edgy and contemporary. The sporty styling should make the SR 150 scooter a hit among the youngsters. The beefy telescopic forks and the large 14-inch diameter wheels do give the scooter an aggressive stance which should help it standout from its rivals. The instrument console is a rather simple affair with a twin pod analogue unit for speedometer, fuel gauge and odometer along with various tell tale lights.
The Aprilia SR 150 is expected to be powered by the same 154.4cc 3-valve, air-cooled, single-cylinder motor as seen on the Vespa 150 that is on sale in India. The mill is expected to generate 12PS of power and 11Nm of torque, and is mated to a CVT gearbox. The scooter employs telescopic front forks and monoshock unit at the back to handle suspension duties. The scooter runs on 14-inch dia wheels that get wrapped around with 120/70 section tyres on both the wheels. The Aprilia SR 150 has a fuel tank capacity of 7 litres while seat height is 775mm. Braking is done by 220mm disc brake at front and 140mm drum brake at the rear.
