Aprilia SR 150 bookings commence

Aprilia recently announced that it will launch the new SR 150 scooter in the Indian market in August, 2016. What took many people by surprise was its introductory pricing of Rs 65,000 (ex-showroom and introductory). We contacted few dealers and found out that booking for the new Aprilia scooter has started. The new Aprilia SR 150 will be sold via the official multi-brand Motoplex showrooms and Vespa dealerships across the country. Booking amount for the new 150cc scooter varies between Rs 3,000 to Rs 5,000 depending on dealer. Deliveries for the SR 150 are expected to commence by last week of August with an expected India launch by mid-August. 

The Aprilia SR 150 is the first locally built offering from the Italian two-wheeler giant for the Indian market and will be manufactured at its parent company Piaggio’s production facility in Baramati, Maharashtra. The fact that the scooter will be manufactured in India has allowed Aprilia to price the scooter so competitively. Talking about styling, the Aprilia SR 150 has a European design language which is edgy and contemporary. The sporty styling should make the SR 150 scooter a hit among the youngsters.

The beefy telescopic forks and the large 14-inch diameter wheels do give the scooter an aggressive stance which should help it standout from its rivals. The Aprilia SR 150 is expected to be powered by the same 154.4cc 3-valve, air-cooled, single-cylinder motor as seen on the Vespa 150 that is on sale in India. The mill is expected to generate 12PS of power and 11Nm of torque, and is mated to a CVT gearbox. The scooter employs telescopic front forks and monoshock unit at the back to handle suspension duties. The scooter runs on 14-inch dia wheels that get wrapped around with 120/70 section tyres on both the wheels.
