Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI), which is the leading automatic scooter manufacturer in India and the second-largest company in the two-wheeler segment, has achieved another milestone by inaugurating its 900th Honda Authorised Exclusive Dealership (HEAD). The dealership will be offering 4S solutions – which includes sales, service, spare parts and safety – under one roof. The Japanese bike maker has increased the number of its dealerships to 4,800, which makes it one of the largest two-wheeler networks in India.
Around 75 per cent of Honda’s dealerships are located in rural and semi-urban areas. Apart from that, nearly 500 of the overall HEADs across the country have been established in the past 5 years only.
Commenting on the 900th authorised dealership milestone, Yadvinder Singh Guleria, senior vice-president, sales & marketing, HMSI, said, "We have grown exponentially in the last 15 years of existence in India, in terms of sales, product portfolio, production capacity and network. The penetration in smaller towns is a critical part of our India strategy. Along with rapid capacity expansion, introduction of new products across categories and strengthening our network in the metro and urban locations, we are now focusing on increasing our foothold in the semi-urban and rural areas. Honda is now extending its reach to the last mile with 80% of the touch points added this financial year being only in the semi-urban and rural locations. We are confident that our growing network will cater to the increasing demand for Honda 2Wheelers and realise higher customer satisfaction in terms of services provided by Honda network."
Honda is now aiming to further increase its network by inaugurating 500 more dealerships, which will bring the total count to 5,300 (by the way, the company wants to reach the target before the end of this financial year). Apart from that, Honda is also focusing on increasing its product portfolio by introducing new vehicles under various categories. Besides the material quality of the products, the skilled staff at Honda dealerships will ensure that the customers receive the best two-wheeler after-sales services.
