The 2024 Magnite is making a stronger case for itself in the compact SUV segment with slightly updated looks and attractive pricing. That pricing is so attractive that it can even be considered as an alternative to smaller cars, like the Hyundai Exter. So if you are unsure about which SUV to choose, no need to stress! As we will be comparing both models in terms of their specifications, features, along with their pricing in this report.
Pricing-wise, the 2024 Magnite undercuts the Hyundai Exter by Rs 14,000. However, when you compare their top-spec variants, the Exter turns out to be the more affordable option by over one lakh rupees. Notably, the prices of the Magnite will increase, as these are introductory prices announced by Nissan, which apply only to the first 10,000 customers.

The only aspect in which the Hyundai Exter is larger than the Nissan Magnite is its height. Apart from that, the Magnite is longer, wider, and has more wheelbase than the Hyundai micro-SUV. This translates into more cabin space, ultimately affecting your comfort.

In terms of features, the Exter has a slight advantage over the Magnite, as it offers a sunroof, connected car tech, and wireless phone charging. However, the Magnite compensates with larger alloy wheels, a branded audio system, a digital driver’s display, and ambient lighting.

When it comes to safety, both models come with essential equipment along with 6 airbags as standard, but the Magnite includes a 360-degree camera system, whereas the Exter is equipped with a standard reverse parking camera.

Since the Hyundai Exter's naturally aspirated petrol engine is larger in capacity than the Magnite's, it is more potent than the Nissan SUV. However, the Magnite is also offered with a 1-litre turbocharged petrol option, which delivers better power figures compared to the Exter's sole 1.2-litre petrol engine choice. Both vehicles also come with manual and automatic gearbox options.

That being said, if you are looking for a more economical CNG-equipped powertrain, the Exter is the only choice of two, as it can be configured with a factory-fitted CNG kit. In CNG mode, the Exter’s power output is reduced to 69 PS and 95 Nm. Additionally, it also features dual-cylinder CNG technology that offers sufficient boot space.

Given that both SUVs are not direct rivals, the Exter locks horns with the Tata Punch and Maruti Ignis. While the Magnite takes on the likes of the Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Tata Nexon, Renault Kiger and Mahindra XUV 3XO.
