According to previous reports, we already know most of what there is to know about the upcoming Ciaz 2018 facelift. For starters, the sedan is all set to be launched tomorrow and its bookings are already underway. The new Ciaz will be available in four variants through Nexa namely, Sigma, Delta, Zeta and Alpha. It is also common knowledge that the Sigma variant will not be getting the automatic transmission. There had also been some speculation over the standard and premium features of the Ciaz, but fortunately thanks to a new document, we can lay those speculations to rest as well.
Ciaz facelift will be the first Maruti to feature LED fog lamps
To keep up with the competition, particularly the Honda City, the Ciaz will feature a combination of LED headlamps, fog lamps and tail lights. In the process, it will be the first Maruti ever, to come with a full LED lighting system. But it remains to be seen if it will be a part of the standard package or will be reserved for the top-of-the-line Alpha variant only. Our bet is on the Alpha.
ESP and Hill-hold assist will not be standard
Prior to this, reports stated that the Electronic Stability Program and hill-hold assist would be offered as standard across Ciaz variants. Now however, we can confirm that the features will be offered with the automatic variants only. And the automatic gearbox probably a CVT unit will likely be available in the Zeta and Alpha variants.
Standard kit will however include a new Speed Alert System or SAS that warns the driver via beeps when the car exceeds 80kmph. The warning gets more severe as the car exceeds 120kmph. Seatbelt reminder has also been added to the standard kit.
Petrol engine more powerful, diesel remains the same
The Ciaz will come with the same K15B petrol engine as the new Ertiga which will make 105PS of max power. The engine powering the Ciaz will also be mated to the SHVS mild hybrid technology for better fuel economy. The diesel engine on the other hand will remain the same as before. The 1.3-litre unit will make 90PS of power and 200Nm of peak torque, same as before. The petrol variant will be launched first with diesel set to arrive at a later stage.
When launched, the prices for the Ciaz will likely start from Rs 8.0 lakh and will rival the likes of Honda City, Hyundai Verna and Volkswagen Vento.
