2018 Maruti Ciaz Fully Revealed In Spy Shots

The much-awaited 2018 Maruti Suzuki Ciaz has been playing hide and seek with us for a couple of months now. After many spy shots of camouflaged test mules and a couple of teaser images from Maruti Suzuki surfaced online, the sedan has finally been caught undisguised, revealing the changes to the exterior as well as inside the cabin. The latest set of images show the sedan’s updated front fascia, new alloy wheels, tail lamps and the subtle changes to the interiors.

So let’s start there, shall we? The latest version of the sedan sports the same dashboard and steering wheel as the outgoing model. However, the wood inlays inside the cabin are now of a lighter shade and gone is the all-black theme, with Maruti opting for a more ‘premium’ beige interior. The instrument cluster, too, is all new and features a set of 3D dials and a larger full-colour MID (multi-information display). The new Ciaz will also get cruise control as there is a dedicated button for the function on the steering wheel. The controls for the AC and the Suzuki SmartPlay touchscreen infotainment system are the same as before.

Step outside, and you’ll notice the new face courtesy of a sleeker grille with a mesh pattern and new headlamps with LED DRLs. The front bumper is all new and features sharp creases and an angular chrome outline for the fog lamp housings. The design of the alloy wheels are new too and feature a similar silver finish.

At the rear, there are minor revisions such as chrome surrounds for the tail lamps, which now feature LED elements. It also gets chrome rings on either side of the bumper. Being a Nexa product, there’s no engine or variant badging. However, it does get an SHVS badge on both the petrol and diesel variants.

That brings us to the most important change on the 2018 Ciaz. The updated version of the sedan will get an all-new 1.5-litre K15B petrol engine, most likelly paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox. This motor packs SHVS (Smart Hybrid Tech By Suzuki) and produces 105PS of power and 130Nm of torque.

The popular Maruti sedan, which competes with the Honda City, Hyundai Verna and the Toyota Yaris, among others, was expected to be launched in the first week of August. However, it has now been delayed to later that month.
