In an interaction with MV Agusta officials during the MV Agusta Brutale 800 media ride, we learnt that the Italian bikemaker  will be bringing the bike to India soon. MV Agusta plans to launch the new Brutale 800 in India by late June or early July, 2017. The new motorcycle is the second generation of the Brutale 800 and ZigWheels readers will remember that we had reviewed the older bike. The new middleweight motorcycle from MV Agusta will be priced at a premium and we expect it to retail for around Rs 15 lakh (ex-showroom) which is considerably higher than its rivals - the Kawasaki Z900, Ducati Monster 821 and the upcoming 2017 Triumph Street Triple. The Brutale 800 is the naked version of the MV Agusta F3 and has been designed by Adrian Morton, who succeeded the legendary Massimo Tamburini. Needless to say, the British designer has done a great job. In comparison to its predecessor, the bike has been tightly packaged with more edgy lines. The oval headlight profile has been carried forward but it now receives LED DRLs that give it a modern touch. The sculpted fuel tank, contrast red trellis frame and single-sided swingarm are few of the design highlights of the bike. The iconic triple exhaust mufflers have been retained but are a bit larger than before. But the one element that really grabs your attention is the floating tail section. Switchgear has also been revised and so is the new instrument cluster which is much more legible than its predecessor.

Powering the bike is a new 798cc triple engine that meets Euro-IV emission norms. The new motor develops 110PS of power at a rather high 11,500rpm and peak torque of 83Nm is made at 7,600rpm. Power figure is down by a massive 17PS, while torque has risen by 2Nm in comparison to its predecessor. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox with slipper clutch and the new bike also gets bidirectional quick shifter. As far as electronics are concerned, the new MV Agusta Brutale 800 features  8 traction control levels, 3 ABS levels and engine braking control. There are four riding modes on offer - Rain, Normal, Sport and Custom. Also the new motorcycle is heavier by 8kg.
