As the launch of the 2017 KTM 390 Duke comes closer many bikers in India are also getting excited. The next-generation of the popular KTM 390 Duke has been spotted undergoing testing in Europe earlier this year but now for the first time, the bike has been spotted on Indian roads. A heavily camouflaged version of the 2017 390 Duke was spotted undergoing testing on the Mumbai-Pune highway. But despite the camouflage we can confirm that the upcoming motorcycle will adopt an all-new design language.

As seen on the spy pics before, the headlight unit has been redesigned with a much sharper and petite unit with a slit to separate the multibeam headlamp. The fuel tank also has been redesigned while the tank extensions are longer and overlap the USD forks. It is also rumoured that the switchgear has also been changed and it will feature an all-digital console based on the new 690 Duke’s unit. The frame of the bike has also been redesigned while the rear section is smaller in comparison to the existing model with integrated taillight unit which was seen in the test mule. Also instead of the underbelly exhaust, the 2017 KTM 390 Duke will feature a conventional exhaust muffler to comply with the new Euro 4 norms.

There are no details on the powerplant but we can expect marginal bump in numbers while ride-by-wire maybe introduced in the new model. Refinement has never been the forte of the 390 Duke and it is expected that the new motorcycle will feature a second balancer shaft in the cylinder head similar to the new KTM 690 Duke and this should help in reducing the vibes from the motor. The USD forks, mono-shock suspension, braking hardware, slipper clutch and Metzeler tyres seem to have been carried forward from the older model. We can expect the 2017 KTM 390 Duke to be launched in India by early-2017 and expect the price to rise by around Rs 10,000 and 15,000 over the current 390 Duke.
