Top 5 Scooters You Can Buy This Diwali

With the ever increasing traffic in most of our cities, it has become increasingly difficult to get from one place to the other. However, since we do not have a revolutionary idea to solve our traffic problems as of yet, we can certainly try to make the journey more comfortable and convenient. A scooter offers us exactly that. But with so many options to choose from, which one should you opt for? You don’t need to scratch your head any further, as we bring you the Top 5 Scooters you can buy this Diwali.

1) TVS Jupiter

TVS Jupiter MillonR

When it comes to scooters, we often judge them on the basis of their convenience factor, and this is where the TVS Jupiter ticks all the boxes. In terms of design, it doesn’t sway too much from traditional scooters, but it is those little things that matter. For example the external fuel filler cap allows the convenience of being seated while waiting in long lines at the petrol pump, the mobile charging  socket helps you juice up your phone while you’re stuck in traffic, the reserve fuel indicator helps calm your anxiety, and the ignition lock key provides you with that extra bit of security.

The TVS Jupiter is no slacker when it comes to performance either. The 109.7cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine produces 8PS of power and 8Nm of torque at 5500rpm, making sure it’s zippy enough to wade through traffic. The telephonic front suspension and gas-filled rear monoshocks ensures comfort even on rough stretches, while the 12-inch wheels and a longer wheelbase of 1275mm provide extra stability. In our fuel efficiency test, we got a mileage of 49kmpl, which is pretty decent.

Honda Activa 4G

Over the years, the Honda Activa has become a household name, and for a good reason! The tough all-metal body encases a no-nonsense scooter that is suitable for anyone and everyone. Unlike the TVS Jupiter, the latest Activa 4G doesn’t come packed with features, but it does get an under seat mobile charging socket. Thanks to new regulation, the update also brings with it the Always Headlamp On (AHO) feature.

Honda Activa 4G

Speaking of regulations, the now BS IV-compliant 109.19cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine delivers 8PS of power and 9Nm of torque at 5500rpm. Despite the lack of features and a traditional design, the Honda Activa still remains the highest selling scooter in the country, credit for which goes to its uncompromising reliability. In terms of fuel efficiency, the Honda Activa 4G delivered 48kmpl (overall) in real-world conditions., and in terms of braking, the Activa utilizes CBS (Combined Braking System) technology.

So who is the Activa 4G for? Well, for everyone. If you want a sturdy and reliable scooter, you can not go wrong with the Activa. The Honda Activa 4G will set you back by Rs 51,324 (ex-showroom Delhi).

3) Suzuki Access 125

Suzuki Access 125

The Suzuki Access 125, to put it shortly, offers best of both the worlds. Its traditional design ensures that it can be used by anyone, while the 124cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine which produces 8.7PS of power and 10.2Nm of torque at 5000rpm, helps you zip past the signal before it turns red. In terms of features, the Suzuki Access 125 now gets a digital dash which displays all the necessary information you can ask for. The DC socket can be used to charge your electronic devices, while the side stand indicator and the magnetic one-push central lock system adds that extra bit in terms of security.

Hero Maestro Edge

Unlike the previous entries on our list, the Hero Maestro Edge comes with, for the lack of a better word, an ‘edgy’ design which will definitely catch the eye of someone who wants to stand out from the crowd. 5) Aprilia SR150
Aprilia SR15

Let’s be honest, when it comes to design and performance, you just can’t beat the Italians, and the Aprilia SR150 is a shining example of that. Despite being a scooter, it can still fulfil your dream of owning an Aprilia! It packs the same 154.8cc engine that is seen on the Vespa 150. It is capable of producing 10.5PS of power and 11.4Nm of torque at 5000rpm.

Aprilia SR15

In our performance review, the Aprilia SR150 sprinted from 0-60kmph in mere 7.2 seconds! These numbers mean that the SR150 is capable enough to beat some entry level bikes! The 14-inch wheels with V-Rubber tyres and a stiffer suspension setup give you an unrivalled sense of fun and agility to ride. But it does come at the cost of some practical features that we’ve come to expect from a scooter. Yes, you might miss out on features such as a charging socket or a brake lever lock, but it will certainly provide you with the riding experience Aprilia is famous for.

Aprilia SR15

It is safe to say that the Aprilia SR150 is certainly for the enthusiast. The most affordable Aprilia will only set you back by Rs 69,600 (ex-showroom Delhi) and offers a mileage of 37.88kmpl in the city.
