General Motors has taken the wraps off the 2017 Chevy Bolt at CES, one of its most significant models in a long time, and confirmed that it will be available by the end of this year

2017 Chevrolet Bolt EV

Less than a year after the concept version of the Chevrolet Bolt EV was shown at last year's NAIAS in Detroit, GM has now revealed its production-ready version at the ongoing Consumer Electronics Show 2016 in Las Vegas, USA. Armed with a radically new powertrain,  the Bolt EV is poised to become the world’s first broadly available full EV under $40,000 (below Rs 30 lakh) with a range over 200 miles (320 kilometres) when it goes on sale later this year.

Underneath the Bolt are a raft of new technologies designed to enhance its range and go the extra mile with every charge. It is expected to use information on the owner's driving history, the weather outside, the terrain, and even the time of day to help manage and predict range. The navigation system will optimize routes to conserve range, if needed, and show nearby charging stations, thus easing, if not eliminating, range anxiety.

Another range-conserving feature is a low-draw Bluetooth system. Speaking of charging stations, there's no word so far about how long it'll take to recharge a Bolt, or the capacity of the battery pack.

Further information on the 2017 Chevy Bolt EV  like detailed specs, the specifics of chassis componentry, or even trims and options, will be released closer to its launch.
