Renault Duster facelift

The Renault Duster is one of the most popular cars in India and kickstarted the whole compact SUV movement in India about three and a half years ago. With a good diesel engine on offer and class leading ride and handling, the Renault Duster quickly became the gold standard till the time the Hyundai Creta came along. With its swanky exterior and impressive interiors, the Creta, although more expensive became a better proposition for most compact SUV buyers. Now though, to claw back some of its lost market, the Renault Duster facelift has been unveiled at the 2016 Indian Auto Expo. And here are five things about it that you need to know about it.

Exterior updates:

The new Renault Duster is not a major change from the last one in terms of way it looks on the outside. That said, there are changes that helps differentiate the car and these small updates do make it look a lot better. You get new headlights, new tail lamps and a new grille. You also get a new set of wheels which could have looked a little better than they do. The new Duster also get updated front and rear bumpers with new skid plates that have been finished in silver.

The new Duster will also get a new touchscreen infotainment unit along with a cruise control on the top of the line variants. The Renualt Duster will get two engines, a 1.5-litre petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel. The petrol will only be available in a single state of tune whereas the diesel will be available with two different power options. Gearbox:

The Renualt Duster will finally be available with an automatic gearbox. This option will only be on the 110PS engine and will be an AMT unit that is mated to the standard 6-speed gearbox that we have grown to love. The new facelifted Renault Duster will also get a 5-speed manual on the petrol and the low powered diesel along with a standard 6-speed manual on the 110PS diesel. The 110Ps will also get an all wheel drive option with differential lock and traction control.

Price:

Prices for the new facelifted Renault Duster are expected to be out in the next few months when the French Automobile manufacturer officially launches the car in India. Expect a very slight hike in price for the manual versions and a premium of between Rs 30-50 thousand on the automatic version. The new compact SUV will go right up against the Hyundai Creta with a renewed fervor and should have more than a few takers especially since it now has an automatic gearbox option.
