Porsche 911 Hybrid: The Long Wait

Porsche India has announced that on June 29 the company will launch the next generation 911 series in the country. The new range of the 911 sports car for India is expected to consist of the 911 Carrera Cabriolet, 911 Carrera S, 911 Turbo, and the 911 Turbo S Cabriolet. All the models will continue to be sold in India via the CBU route. The new series of the 911 has been updated with changes to the exteriors while it gets new engines for even better performance.
Talking about the new 911, the supercar continues to have the iconic design with minor updates like new headlights with four-point daytime running lights, revised rear section and new four-point rear brake lights. Inside, the car gets the Porsche Communication Management (PCM) with a 7-inch infotainment display. Mobile phones and smartphones can now also be connected via Wi-Fi while there is the option of connecting an iPhone to the PCM to use Apple CarPlay.
The 2016 Porsche 911 series will come with a new generation of flat-six engines with bi-turbo charging. The engines will have a 3.0-litre displacement that produces 370PS of power and 450Nm of peak torque for the Carrera while the more powerful Carrera S will belt out 420PS of power and 500Nm of peak torque. Both the engine boasts enhanced performance and efficiency compared with the predecessor. The 911 Turbo will have the 3.8-litre flat six bi-turbo engine that will develop 539PS of max power that will allow the sportscar to accelerate from standstill to 100kmph in under 3.0 seconds and achieve a top speed of 320kmph.
When launched, the new Porsche 911 series will carry a starting price of Rs 1.4 crore that is likely to go up to Rs 3.0 crore for the top end 911 Turbo.
