Mini Cooper S COnvertible launched at Rs 34.9 ex-showroom Delhi
Made popular thanks to the Michael Caine starrer, the Italian Job, the Mini Cooper has garnered quite the following over the years, even in India. And it has been around for a while now. The Cooper S was launched not long so a soft top version was bound to follow and here it is. With prices starting from Rs 34.9lakh ex-showroom Delhi.

Aesthetically, it looks identical to the hard top version. It has the same sculpted bonnet with the sleek air intake and typical Mini dimensions of a low slung ‘pocket rocket’. Even though, it has far outgrown the pocket for the Mini is by no means a small car. In fact it is much larger than the old one but still retains the Mini character. The electrically operated soft-top roof can be retraced in just 18 seconds and works up to speeds of 40kmph. The boot boasts of 215-litres of luggage space. And the whole car sits on 17-inch wheels.

The Cooper S Convertible is powered by the same 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that powers the Cooper S. The engine makes 192PS of max power and 280Nm of peak torque. The engine is mated to a 6-seed Steptronic automatic transmission. It can do a 100kmph from standtill in 7.1s and boasts of a top speed of 233kmph. The Mini also offers an optional Yours version which features a Union Jack graphic woven onto the canopy. BMW is also offering something known as the Excitement Package which featured LED interior and amboent lighting along with a projection of the Mini logo on the ground on the driver's side when the door is opened. And for those looking for an extra pliant ride there is the optional Dynamic Damper Control which helps keep the car more stable over undulations resulting in a better ride. Features like the heady up display and the Harman Kardon hi-fi sound system are also optional extras. BMW also promises to offer an exhaustive list of customisation options to help every Convertible stand out from the next.
