Ducati SuperSport

As the stage is being set for the 2016 INTERMOT motorcycle show in Germany pictures of the upcoming Ducati SuperSport has leaked online a day prior to its official unveil. The SuperSport will be Ducati’s big ticket unveil at the INTERMOT motorcycle show along with Euro 4 models of the Ducati Monster 821, Diavel and the MultiStrada 1200 S. The Ducati SuperSport isn’t an entry-level motorcycle but an all-new range from the Italian bikemaker. The new motorcycle is an attempt by Ducati to offer its loyalists a comfortable yet sporty bike. From the pics we can make out that the design of the SuperSport isn’t all-original but a mix and match of the current line-up. The full-fairing design is very reminiscent of the Panigale family but the bike doesn’t get a belly pan, while the exposed trellis frame and the bulbous fuel tank has been inspired from the Monster family. The bike also gets stubby twin pipes which are smaller in size than the 959 Panigale’s unit.

While the Panigale models are more track focused in their approach and have an aggressive riding stance, the Ducat SuperSport gets raised clip-on handlebars which means the riding posture is sporty yet comfortable. The new motorcycle also features adjustable windscreen that also indicates its road focussed intentions and the new SuperSport will feel more at ease on the mountain twisties than the race track. Powering the SuperSport will be the L-Twin unit sourced from the Hypermotard 939 which has been altered to better suit its new role and Ducati claims 80 per cent of engine components are new. The Ducati SuperSport will be offered in two variants – standard and S. The SuperSport S model will get top-spec Ohlins suspension unit at front and rear along with removable cowl while Brembo units will handle braking duties. The bike will also get an all-digital instrument console which will be compatible with Ducati multimedia system. Electronic goodies like traction control, ride modes and slipper clutch will be offered on the new motorcycle. More details for the bike will be revealed after its official unveiling at INTERMOT later today.
