2016 Auto Expo: Tata Zica hatchback showcased

The much awaited Tata Zica has been displayed in India and gets both petrol and diesel engines. The new Zica is a brand new hatchback from Tata Motors that essentially replaces the aging Tata Indica and goes up against the likes of the Hyundai Grand i10 and the Maruti Suzuki Celerio.

As far as design is concerned, the Zica gets the new Tata grille up front underlined by a fine strip of chrome. On either side of it are the large arrowhead shaped headlights that give a good look to the new hatchback. The Zica also sports a large front bumper that houses the circular fog lamps. In profile, the Zica gets a sharp shoulder line and a smooth character line to go with it. The roof spoiler with the blackened out edges looks neat, as does the tail gate with its sharp creases.

As far as interiors go, the Zica gets a whole new dashboard layout which is of higher quality plastics than we have seen in Tata vehicles before. The Zica also gets a centrally mounted infotainment screen along with app connect features that support navigation and other infotainment functions. The Tata Zica also gets a very spacious interior and a large boot. Legroom and shoulder space for the passengers at the rear seat is quite good too.

In terms of engines, the Zica gets both a petrol and a diesel engine. The petrol is a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder engine that makes 85PS of peak power at 6000rom and 114Nm of peak torque at 3500rpm. The diesel engine on the other hand will be a 1.0-litre engine that makes 70PS of peak power and 140Nm of peak torque. Both engines are mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox with the possibility of an AMT gearbox soon.
