2012 Gulf Cup Dirt Track Racing

The fifth and final round of the Gulf Dirt Track was staged by Gulf in association with Sportscraft at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Stadium in Nashik. The city’s motorsport fans were treated to some thrilling off-road action, with over 100 participants from across the country negotiating the twists, turns and jumps of the newly laid track.

Pramod Joshua astride his TVS 250FX dominated the flagship Foreign motorcycles up to 250cc in the 2- and 4-stroke class. The Bangalore rider faced stiff competition from  team-mate Harith Noah who finished second, followed by R Natraj who took the final step on the podium.

Joshua astride a TVS Apache also won Race 1 of the Indian Expert Class for motorcycles up to 260cc in the 2- and 4-stroke category. R Natraj and S Madhu, both astride Apache bikes, finished second and third respectively.

VS Naresh astride a Yamaha RX 135 won Race 2 followed by Bangalore team-mate Suhail Ahmed and Sarath Kumar on a TVS Apache. Naresh clinched the overall title with this win and the points he scored previously in the championship.

CS Anandkumar of Coimbatore riding a Yamaha RXG won the Novice Class for motorcycles up to 165cc, 2-stroke. R Shreebal and Kunal Yadav, both astride Yamaha bikes finished second and third respectively.

Yuva Kumar of Bangalore won Novice Class for  motorcycles up to 130cc 4-stroke, followed by B Jagdeeshkumar and Abhijit Shetty in second and third places respectively.

Abhijit Shetty dominated the Novice Class for motorcycles  up to 165cc, 2-stroke, with Yuva Kumar and B Jagdeeshkumar in a distant second and third places  respectively.

Syed Asif Ali of Bhopal won the special scooters up to 150cc, 2- and 4-stroke category, followed by Sharath Kumar and Pinkesh Thakkar in second and third places  respectively. 

Mansingh Thakur astride a TVS Apache RTR won the special local class race, with Ganesh Lokhane (TVS Fiero) and Anish Nair (TVS Apache RTR) placed second and third respectively.
