TVS Motor Company has officially announced the dates for the 2025 season of the Petronas TVS India One Make Championship. The event has been conducted annually since its creation in 1994, and will now conduct its latest round of selections at the Madras International Circuit (MIC) in Chennai, Tamil Nadu from May 9 to May 11, 2025.
The event will be split into four broad categories in total: TVS YMRP (Young Media Racer Program), TVS Women's One Make Championship (OMC), TVS Rookie OMC, and TVS RR310 OMC - each of which will be for different level of riders, ranging from rookie to seasoned, veteran level. These trial rounds will give a chance to young riders to prove their mettle and leave their mark in the professional bike racing scene of India.
The selection trials for the championship will take place spread out over three days:
TVS YMRP: This category, which is by invitation only, is for riders under 30 years of age. Trials will be held on May 9, 2025.
TVS Women's OMC: For women participants in the age group of 15 to 40 years, participants in this class need to be Level 1 certified from an FMSCI (Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India) certified training school. May 10, 2025 has been set as the date for this class.
TVS Rookie OMC: For riders aged between 15 to 21 years, members have to be Level 1 FMSCI certified, and accompanied by a guardian. Trials for the category are scheduled on May 11, 2025.
TVS RR310 OMC: Open to experienced riders below 30 years of age, and with a minimum podium finish in a National Championship or One Make Championship. Tests for this category will also be held on May 11, 2025.
The TVS India One Make Championship has been one of the most popular motorsports events in India. The brand’s racing heritage played a major role in shaping the motorsports scene in India. Conducted annually, it has become a platform where young talent compete with each other, and more than 3,000 riders have ridden since its original inception all the way back in 1994. Through the championship, riders are able to get one-on-one mentoring, as well as face serious competition - getting an opportunity to hone their skills and grow in their careers in motorsports.
The championship has a couple of unique classes for different types of participants:
TVS Rookie OMC: Started in 2022, the class is open for fresh, aspiring racers looking to taste competition, and riding the race-spec TVS Apache RTR 200 4V.
TVS RR310 OMC: Introduced in 2018, the class remains reserved only for seasoned pilots, and getting a chance to operate the absolutely lean, mean race-tuned TVS Apache RR 310.
TVS YMRP: Launched in 2017, YMRP offers a chance for automobile journalists and content creators to feel the excitement of motorsport up close by racing the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V race-version.
TVS Women's OMC: Established in 2016, it was India's first all-female motorcycle racing program. More than 500 women have joined the program since, with professional training and opportunities to ride race-ready TVS bikes on the track.
TVS’ racing initiative plays a huge role in finding and nurturing young talent in the still-niche motorsports segment in India. As the 2025 season approaches, we also eagerly look forward to adrenaline-filled racing sessions in the YMRP category, so stay tuned for more updates!
