Polestar, Volvo’s subsidiary that deals with performance-oriented electric vehicles, has announced that it has strengthened its partnership with fellow Swedish electric two-wheeler manufacturer Cake. Under the agreement, Cake’s electric two-wheelers will now be showcased at Polestar’s showrooms in Europe.

Now that’s a killer combination if you ask us. This will help both brands reach a wider audience and give potential Polestar customers a one-stop solution if they are on the lookout for an environmentally friendly mode of transportation that will supplement their high-performance cars. The CEOs of both the brands have recognised similar brand values of their business and the two manufacturers began collaborating in 2019. Polestar CEO, Thomas Ingenlath says, “Polestar feels a kinship with CAKE, sharing both a belief in redefining performance and a passion for design. Our desire to help create an electrified and emission-free future is a clear bridge between us,”

Cake added that it will collaborate with Polestar for events and customer interactions to reach new audiences and explore the idea of sustainable electric mode of transportation. Cake’s founder and CEO, Stefan Ytterborn, said, “The motorcycle industry is undergoing a similar shift towards electrification as the automotive industry. And with respect to those shifts, CAKE is ahead of the curve. CAKE urges people to explore with respect and speed up the transition towards a zero-emission society. We feel our high-tech bikes, with a beautiful design, inspired people to do exactly that.”

In April 2020, Cake launched the Kalk Ink SL electric bike. Priced at an eye-watering USD 10,500 (about Rs 7.93 lakh), it features a space-age 6061 aluminium frame and weighs just 82kg with the battery pack. Check out more details including the range and performance figures here.
