Royal Enfield, one of the first motorcycle manufacturers in the world, has a rich history in India. It managed to absolutely dominate the sub-500cc segment consistently over several years. The brand didn’t rest on its laurels as it constantly tried to innovate new sub-segments within the 350cc space, and in the 650cc segment as well. While the brand was busy launching several brand-new products in the last few financial years, this year it’s reported that Royal Enfield intends to focus more on facelifts and variants as opposed to bringing in completely new bikes. It’s said that as much as 10-12 variants/facelifts are in the pipeline for this financial year. Let’s have a look at what the Chennai-based manufacturer has in store for us:
The 650cc parallel-twin platform has been a game changer for the manufacturer. The buttery-smooth engine is very versatile and is now present in 6 motorcycles, with the latest addition being the Classic 650, the spiritual successor to the venerable Classic 500. While the brand has pretty much covered every genre - roadster, cafe racer, cruiser, bobber and heritage, we could expect a few new colour variants as well as mild feature updates in the 650cc platform this financial year. Perhaps, we may see a variant equipped with spoke wheels and tubeless tyres for the Classic 650. If Royal Enfield can offer this in the Goan Classic 350, then why not in the 650cc guise, right?
However, things are not likely to stop with this because there’s one motorcycle left to be launched, based on this platform. That’s the Royal Enfield Bullet 650. We’ve seen the bike several times over the course of several years, so it’s high time the brand launches the motorcycle this financial year. We expect Royal Enfield to give some time for the Classic 650 to settle into the market, and then launch the Bullet, perhaps towards the end of the year, in the festive season, or early next year.
Apart from this, Royal Enfield also seems to be working on a 750 platform, and we have already seen spy shots of what can be called the Continental GT 750 and the Himalayan 750. That said, they seem to still be in early stages of production, so their launch is still several months away, at least not in this financial year.
Royal Enfield’s first liquid-cooled engine, the Sherpa 450, made its debut in the Himalayan 450 and later made its way to the Guerrilla 450. With the platform being relatively new, it will spawn further products based on the current lineup, such as the Himalayan 450 Rally, which is an even more offroad-focused motorcycle based on the Himalayan. The bike has been spotted testing and was even spied at the 2024 EICMA motorshow and could launch in India in a few months.
While there’s only one motorcycle in the 440cc platform, the Scram 440, Royal Enfield is unlikely to launch anything new in this segment. We may see new colour additions to the Scram, if anything.
The J-series platform houses 5 motorcycles, which includes the Classic 350, Goan Classic 350, Hunter 350, Meteor 350 and the Bullet 350. The 350cc engine is quite smooth and refined, we don’t expect Royal Enfield to make any more motorcycles with the same engine. That said,, the manufacturer may update the current lineup with more colour options. Royal Enfield has a rich history of capitalising on its existing lineup using umm, history itself to come up with new colour schemes and Armed forces-centric themes. We may see some colourful palette in the coming months.
Royal Enfield plans to go electric and recently showcased the Flying Flea C6 electric motorcycle in India. While the manufacturer has not revealed any battery specifications for the bike, don’t expect the Flying Flea to be a daily commuter motorcycle. It will be more of a lifestyle-based product and will likely be a premium proposition when compared to other commuter electric motorcycles. The Flying Flea is expected to make its debut in the production avatar in early 2026, possibly around March. This will then be followed by a scrambler based on the same platform.
All in all, even though the brand may not go guns blazing this financial year in terms of new product launches, it aims to keep its focus on making its existing lineup all the more wholesome, snazzier and funkier than ever before.
