After a hot-and-happening January, here’s what’s on the menu for February

The first month of 2023 opened with a bang, starting off with the Auto Expo, and there were a few important launches too, including the Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650. But it looks like the momentum will slow down a bit this month, with only a handful of launches expected.

Matter Electric Bike:

Matter‘s first electric bike was unveiled in November last year, and showcased at the Auto Expo last month. And now, we really hope the company launches the electric bike this month. It’s India’s first electric motorcycle with both liquid-cooled battery pack and motor. With a claimed range of 125-150km depending on the variant, and performance expected to be equivalent to a 150cc petrol-powered bike, expect the Matter electric bike to be priced at around Rs 1.75 lakh (ex-showroom). It will be a more premium alternative to the Tork Kratos.

Yamaha could launch the BS6 phase 2-compliant version of its popular streetfighter, the MT-15 V2. In fact, homologation documents of the same surfaced online recently. If you’re wondering what BS6 Phase 2 is all about, and what the upcoming updated bike will pack, check out our exclusive story here.

Adding to the flood of new EVs is River, a Bengaluru-based EV startup. It’s currently working on an electric scooter, and they call this the “SUV of scooters”, scheduled to be launched on February 22. A quick look will remind you of the Yamaha Neo’s, and the dual LED headlights look pretty cute. The River electric scooter is also decently equipped, with apron-integrated crash guards, telescopic fork, large alloy wheels with a front disc brake, among others. With a mid-mounted motor and a belt drive, it could offer performance equivalent to a 110cc petrol-powered scooter. Check out more details about this electric scooter that was spotted recently.

Apart from these, Yamaha could also launch the updated version of the FZ-X this month. It could come with dual-channel ABS, along with a few new colour schemes. Instead of the FZ-X, another possibility could be the launch of the Yamaha FZ-X25. Just like how Yamaha branched its 150cc FZ range with a neo-retro bike, the company could repeat the same with the 250cc platform. You could check out more details in our analysis here. We’ll know what exactly Yamaha is cooking in the weeks to come. So until then, stay tuned!
