TVS teases a new variant of India’s most popular 125cc sporty scooter

The TVS NTorq 125 is arguably one of India’s most favoured sporty scooters. It's comfortable, tech-laden and packs performance so zesty, it has the competition striving to meet new benchmarks. TVS just dropped a teaser for a new variant of the sporty scooter and this one could be called the NTorq 125 XT. Currently the scooter comes in Standard (drum and disc options), Race, Super Squad (Marvel edition) and Race XP.

So what’s new? Well, more details on the same are still awaited as this is just a teaser. But we think this iteration could pack a few new mechanical upgrades, tech updates, new colour options and command a premium of about Rs 3,000- Rs 4,000 over the current top variant, the Race XP, which costs Rs 89,211. You can get the base variant of the NTorq 125 for Rs 77,106 (prices are ex-showroom Delhi).

The standard NTorq features a 124.8cc, single-cylinder, fuel-injected motor that churns out 9.38PS and 10.5Nm. The Race XP variant gets a tweaked motor that delivers 10.2PS and 10.8Nm, making it the most powerful 125cc scooter in India. With this in consideration, we are eager to see what the boffins at TVS have to offer this time around.

Drawing observations from the teaser, the design of this new XT variant seems to remain more or less unchanged, but we do see a new set of alloys and think there could be more cosmetic upgrades in the form of new colour schemes.

That said, TVS has officially announced that it is looking to set a new benchmark in technology which suggests that the upcoming NTorq 125 XT will have more comprehensive feature additions. To put things into context, TVS gave the NTorq Race XP ride modes, making it the first petrol-powered scooter in India to have one. It also has voice assist that allows for functions like mode change, navigation, console brightness adjustment and DnD mode. What next, we wonder!

The NTorq 125 goes against the Aprilia SR 125, Yamaha RayZR 125 and the Suzuki Avenis and Burgman Street 125.
